IPIM Organises Economic and Trade Delegation to Join MSAR Government’s Official Mission to Three Southeast Asian Nations to Deepen “Belt and Road” Economic Co-operation

MACAU, August 28 - The Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) organised an economic and trade delegation of approximately 120 members to accompany the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government delegation on a visit to three Southeast Asian nations—Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia—from 29 August to 5 September. The visit aims to organically combine Macao’s platform advantages with the demands of Southeast Asian market, deepening two-way investment and economic and trade co-operation between Macao and the three countries. The delegation will attend a series of activities, including official receptions hosted by the MSAR Government and Macao Economic, Trade, Tourism and Investment Presentation Seminars, as well as visit to approximately 20 institutions and enterprise projects.

The delegation comprises government and business representatives from Macao, Hengqin and various regions of the Chinese mainland, covering sectors such as Big Health, biomedicine, technology, finance, commerce and trade, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions), cultural tourism, food, and professional services. Enterprises specialising in Big Health and technology represent the largest proportion, accounting for nearly 60% of total participating businesses, some of which are ranked among China Top 500 enterprises, listed companies, and industry-leading enterprises.

Three Presentation Seminars Fully Release Macao-Hengqin Opportunities

IPIM and the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will host the "Macao Economic, Trade, Tourism and Investment Presentation Seminar" in Singapore, Jakarta (Indonesia), and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) on 31 August, 1 September, and 3 September, respectively. Closely aligned with Macao SAR’s Third Five-Year Plan, the seminars will comprehensively showcase Macao’s unique positioning as "One Centre, One Platform, One Base, and One Hub for Qualified Personnel" to local business communities. Key presentations will highlight Macao’s four major engineering projects, industrial layout, business advantages, integrated tourism and leisure resources, international MICE platform, as well as the policy dividends and opportunities offered by the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Co-operation Zone in Hengqin.

Business matching sessions will be arranged during the seminars to build high-quality networking scenarios for enterprises from the Chinese Mainland, Macao, Hengqin and Southeast Asia, fostering cross-regional exchanges and synergistic development in tourism, trade, MICE and service trade.

During the visit, the delegation will inspect approximately 20 institutions and enterprise projects. These projects closely align with Macao’s "1+4" key industries, spanning high-tech, pharmaceutical and Big Health, infrastructure, cultural tourism and MICE, and the Halal industry. Through on-site visits and exchanges, the initiative aims to promote industrial alignment and technological exchange between Macao and Southeast Asian countries in relevant fields. This will support high-quality enterprises from Macao and the Mainland in "joining hands to expand overseas" and exploring international markets, while creating favourable conditions to attract quality overseas enterprises to establish a presence in Macao.

Continuously Building the "Belt and Road" Business Network to Inject Momentum into Macao’s Economic Diversification

This delegation visit to Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia represents another major initiative by IPIM to deepen regional economic and trade co-operation following a delegation visit to Portugal and Spain in April this year accompanying by the MSAR official mission, which resulted in over 220 business matching sessions and 109 signed agreements. Moving forward, IPIM will continue to leverage Macao’s unique advantage as a gateway connecting to the world, strengthen economic and trade ties with countries along the "Belt and Road," and support the high-quality, appropriately diversified development of Macao’s economy.
